Bullpen Triage and Batting Heroes: A Yankee Fan's Midseason Rant
We're midway through the baseball season with the Yankees sitting between the Blue Jays and Red Sox, and despite some challenges, there are plenty of reasons to feel optimistic about our chances for the remainder of the season.
• Aaron Judge continues to chase history while adding to the Yankees legacy
• Giancarlo Stanton has found his swing again
• Jason Dominguez proving he's the real deal in the leadoff spot
• Bellinger, Goldschmidt and Williams have settled in and are performing well
• Brian Cashman making strategic moves to prepare for a championship run
• Carlos Rodón embracing his role in New York
• Aaron Boone's constant lineup changes causing frustration
• Pitching staff plagued by injuries, resembling "a triage in an ER"
• Anthony Volpe struggling under pressure
• Uncertainty at the catcher position between Wells, Escarra and Rice
• Oswaldo Cabrera's absence impacting team morale and chemistry
• The importance of embracing baseball's imperfections rather than expecting perfection
Let's Go Yankees
Now go, bring joy to the people in your world.
Thanks for tuning in to the Bring Joy podcast. We're in season five and it's all about baseball, talking big leagues to the little leagues, yankees to the Conks and everything in between. I'll share my joy for the game with you and whether you're a fan of baseball or good storytelling, you'll be entertained and each episode will bring a little joy to your day. So sit back and relax. Let's do this thing. How we doing Yankee fans. We're headed into the second half of the season and I'm feeling pretty good about it. We got 60-plus games left, sitting two spots behind the lead between the Blue Jays and the Red Sox. I like my chances and here's why we can start with where the Yankees forget about it. And Aaron Judge is on our team. How lucky are we to watch the kid chase history and add to the Yankee legacy. And Giancarlo, he's got his swing back. And Jason Dominguez, he's the real deal. Boone needs to leave him in that leadoff spot. How about Bellinger, goldie and Williams? They finally got all unpacked and they like it in the big city now reminding us why Cashman went and got them. Speaking of the GM, you heard what he said. He knows we're missing a few pieces to make a run at it and he's already starting to make some moves. He let DJ go, rest his Yankee soul. And he moved Jazz II, not for nothing, making room for something. I hope it's the 28th soul. And he moved Jazz to second, not for nothing, making room for something. I hope it's the 28th trophy. And how about Rodon? He's feeling like the king of New York. Did you see that purple jacket he was wearing in Atlanta at the All-Star game? That's good stuff right there. And Luis Hill He'll be back soon.
Speaker 1:Now listen, I know it's not all rainbows and butterflies, starting with Aaron freaking Boone. Can you leave the lineup alone already? And if we lose and mess up, throw your hat and get mad. This is baseball, not soccer. Come on, skip.
Speaker 1:And who's supposed to be taking care of our pitching staff? Come on, it's not looking good right now. We got one guy going down after another. There's no reason why Clark Smith's arm is ruined right now. Who's paying attention? It looks more like a triage in an ER than it does a bullpen. Come on, tighten up.
Speaker 1:And now Max Reed's not 100% and Weaver he's going through an identity crisis or something. I think he's going to need a counselor. Maybe we could get a special if we bring Volpe in on it. I mean, anthony's struggling. I don't want his old man coming at me, but I think he's just feeling the pressure. He needs a real glove on his right side. You know what I mean.
Speaker 1:And who's our catcher? Is it Wells, escarra or Rice? You know what my nephew said If we got three catches, we probably don't have a catcher. And, as Waldo Cabrera going down left a lot of collateral damage Besides the fact that he was a gamer, the kid was the heart and soul of our team. We miss him in the dugout. He was Jazz's wingman. The two of them kept things light and loose. Jazz is doing the best he can, but I think he needs his wingman back. I know Cabrera won't make it back on the field this season, but I'd love to see him in the dugout. Sure, there's going to be a lot of ups and downs between now and October, but it's baseball. It's why we love this game. Listen, yankee fans, sometimes I think our pain is self-inflicted. We keep expecting perfection from a game that doesn't allow for it. Let's go, yankees and Instagram, or check my website at joynewlistcom. Now go, bring joy to the people in your world. Until next time, much love.
